Star Wars: Episode VII rumor mill: Cumberbatch, Oldman, plot details, classic characters and more!

It’s amazing that we have yet to hear of any official casting decisions regarding the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII. So far, everything we’ve been hearing so far has been nothing but he said, she said. One source though, MarketSaw, has been on point when it comes to Star Wars news. They were the first to report that Star Wars would be a trilogy, and the first ones to report that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would be returning for Episode VII. Now MarketSaw’s source is back revealing some more juicy news regarding the film.

First off, MarketSaw is saying that Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary Oldman are both involved in the film. However, originally both Cumberbatch and Oldman were pursued for the same role, but with the recent script changes their roles might’ve changed. Frankly, the inclusion of these two highly regarded actors in the film would solidify the cast similar to what Sir Alec Guinness did for the original trilogy.

Next, the site’s source is stating that Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok) and Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) will be making their return as well. They’ll be joining original cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels and R2-D2.

With Harrison Ford rumored to be signed for Episode VII, does this mean that we’ll be getting more Indiana Jones films on the horizon? According to MarketSaw’s source, that’s a definitive yes. “Regarding Harrison Ford, two more Indiana Jones features are in the negotiation stages as per Ford’s contract clause on Star Wars, which is the primary reason he didn’t ‘publicly’ or ‘privately’ commit, or so I’m told.”

That’s not all! Some plot details has been revealed from MarketSaw’s source. “Ultimately it’s about twins, and which will take a path towards darkness and which will follow in their father’s footsteps, or at least that is what it used to be, that may come later as I think changes are being undertaken to bring the original cast into the forefront of the story leading to ramifications that lead up to the next generation of Skywalkers.” This further indicates that the trilogy will somewhat follow the Extended Universe storyline of Jaina and Jacen Solo.

Lastly, in more troubling news, the site’s source is claiming that there are some production issues regarding the film. “Many Star Wars pre-production issues, an ‘inadequate’ central story which nobody would stamp off on, a problematic initial release date and an ‘indecisive’ director (J.J. Abrams) with the hardest gig in the industry. It’s not going to be a cakewalk, but it will be a product shipping with the majority of its original parts.” Inadequate central story and indecisive director are two things that should NOT be happening in a gigantic franchise such as this. One can only hope that once the cameras start rolling that everything will run smoothly.

Well there you have it guys, I admit that this is a lot of information to swallow in one article. Hopefully, we can get some concrete information soon. After all, the film is being released in 22 short months.

Star Wars: Episode VII warps into theaters on December 18, 2015.
