Marvel releases first official stills from Guardians of the Galaxy and trailer debut announcement

Are you ready for this Marvelites? Because I sure am! It was revealed earlier today that Marvel’s space opera Guardians of the Galaxy will drop its first trailer on the Jimmy Kimmel show on Tuesday at (11:35 ET/PT), with a special intro by star Chris Pratt.

On the eve of the trailer release, USA Today has released our first official look at the Guardians (Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon and Groot), Star-Lord’s ship the ‘Milano’, and a close-up look at Peter Quill Star-Lord. Check it out!

Guardians of the Galaxy teams five contrasting personalities: Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), a.k.a. Star-Lord, was taken from Earth as a 9-year-old and possesses a mysterious orb artifact (an Infinity gem?) and pilots the Milano, a muscle car of a spaceship. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is connected to Thanos, Marvel’s baddest villain. Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) is a man who you don’t want to upset (although it’s unknown whether he’ll have a connection to Thanos or not). Then there are the aliens Rocket Raccoon and Groot (computer-generated characters voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, respectively), who are the best of friends and are very awesome together.

Their stories converge in the space prison Kyln, run by the Nova Corps. After the characters break out, they venture to Knowhere (the severed head of a celestial being that serves as a hangout for aliens) and visit the weird establishment of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro). They also will have to avoid two villains, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are in hot pursuit of Quill’s orb, which has the power to destroy the galaxy.

Keep an eye on our site tomorrow night, as we will post the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer as soon as it’s live online. Trust me, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.

Guardians of the Galaxy guards theaters on August 1st.
