Ratchet and Clank movie coming 2015

ratchetThis is old news, but with the recent announcement of the Sly Cooper movie coming in 2016 by Rainmaker Entertainment and Blockade Entertainment, we thought we would go back and look at the first announced title, Ratchet and Clank.

Created by Insomniac Games, the Ratchet and Clank series has had great successes since the original PlayStation days. They will be joined by Copernicus Qwark on the big screen in a brand-new space adventure featuring Ratchet’s huge arsenal of weapons as they go up against Doctor Nefarious.

What I really enjoyed about the trailer is that the characters look like they just came out of the PlayStation 3. Sly Copper and the gang, however, had to get a whole new makeover to transition itself into a CG-animated movie. Ratchet and Clank didn’t need a big change in the way they look for the movie adaptation.

Full of silly jokes and Qwark looking like…well Qwark, fans can be happy that the voice actors from the series will be reprising their roles once again. James Arnold Taylor is voicing Ratchet, David Kaye voices Clank, Jim Ward voices Captain Qwark and Armin Shimerman voices Doctor Nefarious.

If Ratchet and Clank as well as Sly Cooper do well in theaters, we may see more movies based on Sony characters down the line leading up to a PlayStation All-Stars movie, who needs Superman vs Batman when you have Nathan Drake vs Sweetooth.

I would love to see a Jak and Daxter movie down the line.
