Ridley Scott is involved in the live-action Halo movie?

Halo 4 review 2

Update: Microsoft made sure to squash this rumor and has told Eurogamer the following:

“We plan to continue telling the Halo story through innovative channels, but there are no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time.”

Ah yes, the Halo movie. It’s been in development hell for a while, and that’s a good thing. On the plus side, those who hate video game movies won’t have to worry about a movie tainting the video game franchise. As for me, I’m okay with video game movies, since if they suck, we still have the games, and if they’re great, then everybody’s happy. (I still enjoy Street Fighter and Tomb Raider despite the crappy movies.)

Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp were working on trying to get the Halo movie to happen, but that didn’t pan out. So what do we have to show for it since then? A live-action web series called Forward Unto Dawn and an announcement that Steven Spielberg will be working with Microsoft to help produce a Halo TV series.

Now we have Production Weekly reporting that there’s an untitled Halo movie via their Twitter:

“The HALO project is a live-action feature-length digital produced by Ridley Scott…”

If they aren’t crapping from their mouths, then this should be very interesting indeed.
