Game over, man! Bill Paxton joins Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD

I should probably give Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD another chance, but the first couple of episodes really didn’t sell me. I know there are some of you who enjoy the show and will counter with, “but it’s not a supehero show.” Now we have a new character joining the show by the name of Agent John Garrett. Who’s going to play him? Well, it’s none other than Bill “Game Over” Paxton (Aliens, True Lies).

“We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger,” says executive producer Jed Whedon. “When Garrett got his promotion to Level 7, he refused to sit behind a desk and doesn’t like the formalities of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two.”

Garrett will be working with agents Ward (Brett Dalton) and May (Ming-Na Wen), and he’s the type of guy who likes the battlefield.

In the comics, he was turned into a cyborg by SHIELD to prevent his death. Will we get to see that version in the show?
