Is Todd Alquist going from cooking meth to becoming a Jedi? So far it looks as if it might turn out that way. The Wrap is reporting that Jesse Plemons, who starred on both Breaking Bad and Friday Night Lights, is in contention to land the lead role in J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.

Plemons hasn’t landed the role as of yet but he is scheduled to meet with Abrams next week to discuss the film. Plemons’ audition tape was so well-received by those involved in the casting process that he’s flying from Austin, Texas to Los Angeles to meet with Abrams for a second audition. So far, no one has been officially cast as of yet, despite the numerous rumors surrounding Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sullivan Stapleton.

The Wrap notes that there hasn’t been any word on which role Plemons might take, but the site assumes that he might play the offspring of Luke Skywalker because of his resemblance to Mark Hamill.

This is the first concrete rumor we’ve had surrounding any sort of casting decision, but we’ll keep everyone up to date as to the latest casting rumors and decisions.

Star Wars: Episode VII warps into theaters on December 18, 2015.
