Evangeline Lilly was lied to about her role in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Before The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, people can watch Evangeline Lilly in ABC’s Lost. On the show, her character was involved in a love triangle between Jack and Sawyer. I bet you can guess where the story is heading next.
Potential spoiler ahead.
Lilly reveals to Yahoo! that before signing on to play as Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, she asked the filmmakers that she would sign on only if her character wasn’t going to be involved in a love triangle (she doesn’t say Peter Jackson, but odds are it’s Peter Jackson).
“When I started out and was engaged on this job, my one stipulation…the one thing I said to them, ‘You have to promise me that I will not be in a love triangle.’ They said, ‘We promise you, you won’t be in a love triangle.'”
Well, if you’ve seen the movie, then you know that the promise was broken.
“We came back for reshoots in 2012 … and they were like, ‘Uh, the studio would really like to see…’ And I was like, ‘Here we go. Here we go.’ And sure enough I’m in another love triangle.”
