UPDATE: HitFix has confirmed that Don Cheadle will in fact be in the Avengers sequel. “HitFix can confirm that Col. Rhodes, aka War Machine, has a key role in the conflict with Ultron that is the main focus of the sequel.” So there you have it.

With the core actors officially on board to start filming next spring, there’s bound to be a set of supporting cast members and cameos to look forward to in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. USA Today seemingly has dropped a little tidbit on a certain actor who will have a part in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The publication states that actor Don Cheadle will have “a part to film in the next Avengers movie.” Whether this means that he’ll be back as Iron Patriot War Machine remains to be seen.

Keep in mind that the USA Today article was meant to highlight Don Cheadle’s nomination for his role in Showtime’s House of Lies, so it failed to include Cheadle’s actual quote about Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, the tidbit does imply that he has confirmed his addition to Avengers: Age of Ultron while giving a rundown of his impending schedule.

Previously, Cheadle has said that he hasn’t talked with Joss Whedon about Iron Patriot War Machine showing up in the Avengers sequel, but has stated, “Conversations have been happening.” Hopefully it’s an active ass-kicking role instead of just a side character ala Pepper Potts in The Avengers. What do you think?
