NSFW: Batgirl exposed in Alan Moore’s controversial The Killing Joke

The Killing Joke is definitely one of the most controversial moments in Batman history. It was very dark and featured The Joker depowering both Commissioner Gordon and Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl. Some weren’t too pleased with how Batgirl was portrayed, since it was considered to be a part of the “Women in Refrigerators” phenomenon (this is when writers injure, kill, or depower female characters to make the male characters suffer and grow stronger).

Well, if you thought the published work was dark, just wait until you see the unreleased original illustration from artist Brian Bolland featuring Barbara Gordon’s exposed breasts. The image was revealed by Billy Hynes, an employee of London’s Gosh! Comics.

We recently covered that Alan Moore hated superheroes and called adult male superhero fans “emotionally subnormal” because comic book superheroes were meant to be for young boys. He’s definitely trolling, but it’s funny to hear that from the guy who brought us naked blue men and Barbara Gordon’s sexual assault from The Joker.
