Adam Warlock’s Cocoon in Thor: The Dark World (SPOILERS)

Anyone who is familiar with Marvel’s Infinity Gauntlet storyline would be familiar with Adam Warlock. Adam Warlock is a cosmic-level character, dealing with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thanos and Thor. If you’ve seen Thor: The Dark World, it’s safe to say that Thor deals a lot with cosmic beings. Although what I’m about to express here could be considered a spoiler, there is not a lot to spoil as this is more of an Easter egg for Marvel Comic fans.

In one of the end-credits scenes of Thor 2, Sif and Volstagg pay a visit to a key character. And while this scene possesses much in visual details, one particular item is bound to catch the eye of those ardently invested in the Marvel Universe.

Often in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there will be design changes from the comic, however the prop and set designers do an incredible job maintaining the essence of those designs.

Adam Warlock is a key character in the Thanos storyline, so having him, even just his cocoon, showcased is evidence that we are definitely heading towards the Infinity Gauntlet direction. Even though Warlock possessed certain traits in the classic comics, Marvel reinvigorated the character in the Annihilation storyline in 2007. Given Marvel’s inclination towards newer incarnations, it is most likely that Warlock would use Quantum Magic, which allows him the following:

  • manipulate energy
  • create force fields
  • teleport
  • faster than light travel
  • detect or produce wormholes and other space phenomenon
