Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc coming February 2014

NIS America has announced that the murder mystery visual novel game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, will be releasing next year in February.

Previously a Japanese-only release for the PlayStation Portable, Trigger Happy Havoc is a twisted and crazy story where you play as Makoto Naegi. While attending Hope’s Peak Academy one day, you get locked in the school with other students and come face to face with a mysterious, murdering bear named Monokuma. Monokuma makes a deal that if any student is able to murder any fellow classmate, they can get away with it and will be set free. If none do, they all will be stuck in the school forever. Can you solve the mystery of the murders and find the truth about Monokuma?

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc has three modes of gameplay which include “Daily Life”, where you can walk freely among the school, talk amongst the other students and find medals which are important later in the game; “Deadly Life” occurs after a murder where you investigate the scene, find clues and interrogate people to find the truth; and then there’s the “Class Trails” where you proceed to solve the mystery of who the killer is.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a 2.5D anime-style visual novel game that could be called a much darker version of the Ace Attorney series. It has spawned manga spin-offs, an anime series and has an iPhone port. The Vita version has an alternate storyline that you can play after the game is completed.
