Xbox One won’t be able to do anything out of the box

Remember when Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 won’t able to play Blu-ray and DVD video content out of the box? Well, Microsoft decides they can top Sony by having the Xbox One not being able to do ANYTHING out of the box. Yes, you’ll need a day one update to play video games and pretty much everything else for the Microsoft next-gen console. That means even if you have a disc-based game loaded, your Xbox One is pretty much a giant paperweight without that update.

“Functionally, you will be able to do very little without taking the day one update,” Microsoft senior director of product management Albert Penello told Engadget. When asked what gamers can do out of the box, he replied with, “Nothing. You need the Day One update,” he said.

Well, this will only be a big issue of the gamer in question doesn’t have access to the internet that day. We’ll see how it’ll all go down once the Xbox One becomes available on November 22, 2013.
