BlizzCon: Hearthstone open beta, Blizzcon card, iPhone/Android version revealed

hearthstone-heroes-of-warcraftHearthstone, Blizzard’s card flinging F2P game, has been announced it’s going into open beta starting next month. Of course, being a F2P game, this essentially means that the game is actually being released to the public.

During the opening ceremony, the special card that Hearthstone players got for attending the event or ordering the virtual ticket was also revealed. The card, a golden legendary called the Elite Tauren Chieftan, is a 5/5 minion with a battlecry effect that gives both players a random card with “the power of rock.” These cards are played with music bits from the actual band’s songs, to add a bit of extra fun in playing it. It seems like a silly card clearly not meant for serious play, so hopefully it stays that way.

Also announced was development of an mobile version for the iPhone and Android. These versions are expected to be out in second half of next year. In Blizzard terms, that could be even longer, so, be patient as usual.
