Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and Captain America: The Winter Soldier crossover?

shield-americaThe rumor mill is churning, and what a rumor it is. Here’s some info leading up to what could be a major event in movie/TV history. During the Thor 2: The Dark World, Clark Gregg spoke about how the events of Thor 2 will influence Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

From Comicbook.com

We have another episode coming up that really connects to Thor: The Dark World and kind of may contain some additional story elements. I can’t spoil anything, but it’s great to be connective tissue. That what I was. Now, it’s what the show is. And it’s nice when they get to the part where there might be some superheroes and some fighting, and they don’t say Coulson’s gone now. They say, ‘Coulson suit up.’

On top of that, Agent Sitwell is scheduled to appear in Agents of SHIELD in an upcoming episode. Agent Sitwell was seen in Thor and the Marvel One Shot, and he will be in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That could be what Clark Gregg was talking about in regards to the crossover from movie to show, but Comicbook.com has heard from their sources something more.

Well, ComicBook.com has heard from a source close to the production that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will, indeed, be interconnected with the upcoming second Captain America film, for which the trailer will be released this morning. According to our source, events taking place in the show will “tease and set up the S.H.I.E.L.D. of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

Comicbookmovie.com tweeted a few days ago their take on what this news meant, with Clark Gregg responding to that tweet.

He neither confirms or denies the direct connection, but seeing as we’ve seen Nick Fury in Agents of SHIELD, is it possible to see Captain America alongside the Agents of SHIELD leading up to The Winter Soldier? That would be a great way to end Season 1. If this holds true, who knows what else Marvel may have up its sleeve. Stay tuned!
