Hey, Star Wars fans, it’s official. Lucasfilm has announced that the highly-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII movie will be coming to theaters on December 18, 2015. Pre-production has already begun and principal photography commences in Spring 2014 at Pinewood Studios.

“We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture,” said Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.

One of the next big announcements would be the title for the movie. What do you guys think it should be? Whatever it is, please don’t let it be Return of the Sith or Rise of the Jedi. We already got something similar with Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) and is being written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark).
