I was one of many fans who were confused as to what Ground Zeroes really was. Konami has now made it clear with its latest announcement. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be available in Spring 2014. It’s going to have a concentrated story mode that follows Big Boss, and it will have players familiarizing themselves with the new game mechanics and the new game engine, the FOX engine, before Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain comes out. You’ll get to check out the new day and night cycles and weather conditions and how they will affect your experience.

As Big Boss, you’re on a rescue mission inside a remote Cuban prison camp (You can check out the footage here).

The prologue game will retail for $29.99 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in Spring 2014. If you download the game digitally for the PS3 and Xbox 360, it’ll be $10 cheaper ($19.99).

Will you be getting both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain?
