Rumor alert: Is Nick Fury making a cameo in the second episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Will Nick Fury appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

For days now, ABC has been teasing a surprise post-credits scene for the next episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., releasing the video below with the caption: “Be sure to stay until the end of the credits on Tuesday. In true Marvel fashion, you never know what might happen.”

Even Agent Coulson, Clark Gregg, tweeted that there’s something special in store for viewers at the end of the episode.

But what is this post-credits scene that everyone is teasing? Well those eagle-eyed writers at Entertainment Weekly caught something very interesting at the end of the commercial.

What’s that located on the the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo… Is that? Is that an eye patch?

Yes, yes it is.

Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) himself said that he wants to be a guest on the show, telling Vulture, “If I was going to do S.H.I.E.L.D., I’d like to be — you know Charlie’s voice on Charlie’s Angels? That would be perfect. Because everybody recognizes my voice. That would be good enough for me. And I told Joss that.” Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) has already made an appearance in the pilot episode, so it would not be surprising for Sam Jackson to make an appearance.

Obviously ABC won’t say a word about it, but EW may be onto something. If Nick Fury were to make an appearance, then it’s definitely something that Marvel would want to be coy about. It also would represent yet another extension of the studios’ strategy to connect the show with the MCU, where post-credit scenes are common.

I guess we’ll have to tune-in tomorrow just to see just what the post-credits scene is and hopefully if Nick Fury does show up that it’ll add something to overall story arc.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays on ABC at 8/7c.
