Sony reveals two detachable camera lenses, the Cyber-shot DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100

xperia-Z1-hero-black-1240x840-3c449514e1daf8b0652a5dc235530ebcSony announced the new Xperia Z1, Sony’s new flagship phone that has a lot going for it including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor, a 3000 mAh battery, with 2GB of RA, flash memory available up to 16GB, with expansion up to 64GB via microSD slot. The 20.7 megapixel camera includes a F2.0 Sony G Lens with a 27mm wide angle and a 3x zoom, and most importantly it’s fully waterproof. The phone will work great in dark rooms or low light as Sony announced a new app Social Live, a live streaming program that will work with Facebook.

QX10_with_Xperia-i1_3-1200-e13783070764481The phone wasn’t the only thing announced, as Sony also unveiled two detachable camera lenses known as the QX10 and QX100. Both lenses work for android and iPhones turning them into what Sony calls a full-fledged digital camera. The lens can be attached to almost any phone or used remotely, connecting via NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity.


The QX100 model features a 20.2-megapixel sensor, Exmor R CMOS sensor, and a Carl Zeiss f/1.8 lens with 3.6x optical zoom, dedicated keys for zoom control and shutter release and will retail for $499.99, while the QX10 features an 18-megapixel sensor with a Exmor R CMOS sensor, Sony G Lens, and 10x optical zoom and will retail for $249.99. Both models will be able to record at 1080p video at 30fps, making any phone a portable camera ready to shoot.
