Bradley Cooper officially joins Guardians of the Galaxy as Rocket Raccoon!

Rocket Raccoon

It’s official, everyone!

Bradley Cooper will be voicing Rocket Raccoon, the machine gun totting captain of the starship Rack ‘n’ Ruin, in the upcoming Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. He will be joining Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Vin Diesel (Groot) and Dave Bautista (Drax) as part of the team!

Known for his roles in comedy films like The Hangover trilogy and indie film Silver Linings Playbook, this would be his first role in a superhero film as well as his first voice-over role. Whether that means he’s doing the motion capture remains to be seen, but if Vin Diesel’s doing the mo-cap then why not Cooper?!

Rocket Raccoon’s voice is known to be a rough British accent. Can Cooper do the accent justice? He speaks French fluently, so we know he has that down. He has been known to imitate his fellow colleagues Luke Wilson, Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken, but any British accents?

Here is his attempt at Jeremy Irons (British) accent.

Well, he has time to go over it with a dialect coach!

Are you excited for this casting choice?

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to release on August 1st, 2014.
