In the past week, there’s been a lifetime’s worth of hype about Hollywood’s punching bag, Ben Affleck, taking on the much coveted role of Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. Well, he’s not the only Good Will Hunting writer who’s been cast in a highly anticipated film. The Playlist is reporting that Matt Damon has signed on for a small, undisclosed role in Christopher Nolan’s next film, Interstellar. It will be Nolan’s first film since he finished the Dark Knight trilogy in 2012. As for Damon, he’s recently received some science fiction experience in his latest film, Elysium, which was released earlier this month. Apparently, there’s much secrecy around this role. That’s Nolan for you.

Like most of the director’s films, Interstellar boasts an impressive cast of A-listers including Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, and Jessica Chastain. It even stars the dynamic John Lithgow and the ubiquitous Michael Caine, an actor who’s worked with Nolan on almost every one of his projects.

According to imdb, the film will tell the story of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

That description coupled with the name Christopher Nolan makes it pretty easy to assume it will be good. But fans eagerly awaiting the film will have to wait more than a year; the scheduled release date is November 7, 2014. Let’s hope it’s worth the wait.
