Avengers 2: Changes Whedon will make to Ultron
With Ultron announced as the new villain in the Avengers sequel, what can we expect of him?
We know that Ultron creator Dr. Henry Pym (Ant-Man) will not be a part of the Avengers movie. We know Ant-Man will have his own movie without Ultron involved. We know that Ultron will have to be created by someone else.
In the Marvel comics, Ultron is a robot (created by Pym) that becomes self-aware and has a lust for power. He also has “super-human strength, speed, stamina, durability, flight, mind control, a coma ray and a genius intellect”.
When asked about Ultron for the upcoming movie, director Joss Whedon told Entertainment Weekly,
“I knew right away what I wanted to do with him. He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone [a new character, Scarlet Witch] who’s a witch…….. As a character I love [Ultron], because he’s so pissed off.”
So we may see a softer, humanized version of the villainous robot in the anticipated sequel.
Hm, I wonder if he is going to follow the other parts of the comic Age of Ultron?
Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is set to release on May 1st, 2015.
