Elysium’s Neill Blomkamp to direct ‘Chappie’ this Fall

I’m kind of torn between Neill Blomkamp right now. Although I very much enjoyed District 9, his latest offering, Elysium, was a disappointment for me. However, I’m still hopeful, now that Blomkamp has a new movie he’s going to be working on as a co-writer and director. Sony has announced that the movie is Chappie, and it will go in production this Fall.

Check out the synopsis below.

“Chappie tells the story of a robot imbued with artificial intelligence who is stolen by two local gangsters who want to use him for their own nefarious purposes. The film will star Sharlto Copley as the voice of Chappie, with Ninja and Yolandi Visser, voices of the South African Zef counter-culture movement and members of rap-rave duo Die Antwoord, as the two gangsters.”
