Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox review

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox poses the question, what would happen if The Flash’s Barry Allen used the speed force to run back in time and stop the death of his mother? Well if you can imagine it, he screws everything up. It isn’t entirely his fault though, since his opposite, Professor Zoom aka Reverse Flash, has really changed the DC universe around.

DC seems to really create the best animated features on the market in comparison to Marvel while Marvel creates the best live features. In the animated realm, characters can be brought together from all over, and they can pull things off they aren’t able to do in live film, creating endless possibilities. Flashpoint Paradox is proof of that. When I watched it for the first time I was simply astounded, pushing Batman: Under the Red Hood into the second place spot of my favorite animated features. Before our recent podcast, I had 5 of the other members of Nerd Reactor watch it as well. “OOOOHHHs” and “AHHHHs” filled the room as they were all just as impressed as I was.

Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox 11

The story starts with The Flash foiling a plan made by his enemies to destroy his monument. With the help of the Justice League and his creativity, he naturally saves the day, but with the pain of the loss of his mother reopened, he goes back in time to stop it.

I won’t give much away, but things have changed between the relationships of all the heroes and the world. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox has to be the bloodiest and most violent of any comic book-based animated film I have ever seen. I was really surprised it was rated PG-13 and not R, but they did shy away from showing things that were too gruesome, leaving your imagination to determine what happened.

One of the best parts of the film was the all-out giant war that broke out. Character involved in this were Batman, Superman, Cyborg, Deathstroke, Aquaman, Aqualad, Wonder Woman, Black Manta, Grifter (from Wild C.A.T.S), Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Steve Trevor, Etrigan, Shazam, Captain Atom, and other variants of characters we all love.

Justice League Flashpoint - Wonder Woman

Overall the film brought the fights we wanted and really showcased the potential of the Flash, making me even more excited for the movie and TV show that are coming out. This film is definitely solid and I highly recommend watching it. The movie hardly had any flaws and was pretty much solid. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is a movie you will remember and want to watch over and over again.

Grade: A+

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox is now available on Blu-Ray and digital download.
