Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has just announced today that Batman: Arkham Origins will have an online mode were you’ll be able to play with your friends…or enemies. So what will the gameplay be like? It’s going to mix elements of the standard Arkham gameplay with third-person shooter mechanics. You’ll be able to play as Batman, Robin, or a thug working for the Joker or Bane.

Since WB Games Montréal is busy working on developing the single-player campaign, developer Splash Damage is tasked with the development for the online mode.

The multiplayer mode kind of reminds me of Splinter Cell’s Spies vs. Mercenaries mode. In the Invisible Predator Online mode, there’ll will be three Joker thugs, three Bane thugs, Batman and Robin (total of 8 players). Bane’s thugs and the Joker’s thugs will have to take each other out, all while the two other players as Batman and Robin are tasked with sneaking around and ruining their plans. The thugs can even call for reinforcements and be able to play as The Joker and Bane to help turn the tide.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on October 25, 2013. The Wii U will be the only platform that won’t have online mode. Sorry Nintendo fans.
