Aaron Taylor-Johnson getting closer to becoming Marvel’s Quicksilver

The fastest man alive in the Marvel Universe is about to become a reality. If you don’t know who that is, I’m talking about Quicksilver. His real name is Pietro Maximoff and he is the twin brother of Scarlet Witch (who will also be Avengers 2); both are the children of Erik Lehnsherr, or better known as Magneto. We still don’t know how this is going to work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since the X-Men, mutants, and Magneto are all owned by Fox Studios. I trust Joss Whedon in being able to insert these characters properly into the MCU and giving us another great film.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has been in both Kick-Ass movies and is now working on Godzilla, broke it down for us about his talks with Marvel and playing Quicksilver:

I feel really flattered and honored that they came to me for that role…I think he’s an interesting character and we’re just gonna keep going into that. I sat down with Joss, I think he’s awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they’re also great; I think it’d be interesting. (via Collider)

The thing to think about is he’s an abandoned child, him and his sister are abandoned… they’re in Eastern Europe (via MTV News)
There’s more character aspect that I’m interested in than the power aspect. And if that’s something that you can make work, then there’s always… you gotta have something that you can relate to. So when it comes to that, then it’s enjoyable. So I don’t really care what it is you know. Oh man, [Joss Whedon] is awesome! He’s a real dude and I love what he did with the first Avengers. He had a real though task to deal with and I think he put up brilliantly.

Marvel already has a star-studded cast on board and it looks like Aaron might be another one that steps in to fill in his superhero shoes. What do you guys think? You think he’ll make a great Quicksilver?
