TMNT’s Shredder will now be Eric Sachs…WTF?

So we know that actor William Fichtner (Lone Ranger) will be playing the Shredder in the upcoming Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Yeah, Shredder is being played by a white guy, and with Fichtner as Shredder, it’s pretty obvious we’d probably get a different version than the comics and the classic cartoon. He has revealed during a Lone Ranger publicity that the Shredder’s real name will be Eric Sachs (Yeah, I just puked a little).

In an interview with Screen Rant, he had the following to say:

“I actually play a guy named Eric Sachs [Sounds like Sachs? Hard to understand] in the movie. And then he goes through a few stages in his existence.”

What the hell? So it looks like he’s no longer Oroku Saki, a Japanese martial artist who seeks revenge against Master Splinter and the turtles. He’s now Eric Sachs, white man going through different stages in his life.

To further prove that the movie is going in an entirely different direction, Fichtner even says that he doesn’t recognize the new reboot.

“But Turtles is coming together very, very cool. There is a whole interesting dynamic that happens in the world of Turtles and all I can really say about it at this point while working on it is that the Turtle film, it’s not like anything that I remember about the Turtles before. I feel like this Michael Bay-produced movie is just gonna really be something else. I’m pretty excited.”

I’m going to say it now, kiss the blades and samurai helm goodbye! RIP Shredder, you’ll be missed.
