Doctor Who Rumor: Rory Kinnear has been asked to be the next Doctor

Rory Kinnear Doctor WhoAccording to a source from Telegraph UK (a news site), BBC has asked British actor Rory Kinnear to be the 12th Doctor.

“He has been offered the part and we are waiting to hear if he will accept,” says the Telegraph source. “He is the perfect choice.”

Nothing has been confirmed by the BBC. In earlier reports, Steven Moffat told Doctor Who documentary director, Ed Stradling, who later tweeted, they haven’t even started selection for the Doctor.

Who is Rory Kinnear?

He is a 35 year old London-based actor who studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Like the previous 9th (Christopher Eccleston) and 10th (David Tennant) Doctors, he is a Shakespearean actor who has performed in the theater and in films. He is most famous for his role in the James Bond films – Quantum of Solace and Skyfall. He portrayed M’s (Dame Judi Dench) Chief of Staff Bill Tanner.

Back in April, he was rumored to replace Matt Smith as the Doctor. He admitted he never watched the show. “I think I’m being used as a decoy on that front,” he said. “It’s the first I’ve heard.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if all this is true. If it is, I actually wouldn’t mind it. He’s a brilliant actor with the acting experience behind him. He has the anonymity that will allow him to really grow into the Doctor (versus a well known actor who could be typecast). I wouldn’t mind him at all.
