This just in. Konami has announced during its pre-E3 presentation that 24’s Kiefer Sutherland will be voicing Naked Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Not only will he be voicing him, but he’ll also be doing the facial motion capture.

This isn’t the first time another actor has played the role of Big Boss. In Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Richard Doyle portrayed Big Boss. It would have been weird for David Hayter as Solid Snake to be talking to David Hayter as Big Boss.

The idea to use him came about when Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima was asking Avi Arad about who he should cast as Naked Snake in the upcoming game. Avi suggested to him to use Kiefer Sutherland, and the rest is history.

Avi Arad is a Hollywood producer who’s currently working on adapting the Metal Gear Solid game into a movie. He has helped bring Spider-Man and other Marvel movies to the big screen.
