Kojima says MGS: The Legacy Collection is too much for the Xbox

Announced last month, Hideo Kojima revealed the upcoming anthology release of Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection. The new HD collection includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR MissionsMetal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition and much more. Sadly, unlike the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Xbox fans will be left out in the cold this time around.

During a recent interview, Kojima revealed that the reason the Legacy Collection was absent on the Xbox is because of the system’s lack of Blu-ray drive.

The collection is so big that two Blu-ray discs are needed to hold most of the legendary hero’s 25 year saga. Just think how much more space would be required if Kojima added the Metal Gear Ops and Ac!d games.

That huge amount of data is the reason why The Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is a PS3 exclusive, according to Kojima Productions. On Thursday ( May 2nd ) during the regular radio broadcast, Kojima stated that the Legacy Collection would require half a dozen discs on the 360.

I think it is good thing that the Xbox 720 is rumored to have a Blu-ray player, don’t you think?

There is still no official release date for the Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection, but Amazon Japan has the title set for a June 11th release.
