Michael Bay confirms that the Ninja Turtles being alien is a misquote, plus Transformers 4 news

When Michael Bay said that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were going to be aliens, many fans were pissed and cried foul, including the voice actor for Michelangelo. Almost every piece of news surrounding the movie has had fans outraged, but now we can cross two things off the list to make things less painful. The first one is the official title being Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And the second one? Now Michael Bay has spoken up about the Alien controversy, and he has said that it was a misquote.

“There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as] aliens. We’re not. It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great.”

I like that he said he listens to fans. Previous interviews would have me believing otherwise. Then again, this is Michael Bay, and he did say that he would learn from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’s mistakes and create a better Transformers movie with Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

As for the next Transformers movie, he says that the redesigns for the Transformer robots were to keep things “new and fresh.”

“You know there are a couple of historians of Transformers. I would do my designs of the robots and they’re like, ‘What if you just add a little bit more ears to Optimus?’ But they’re really hands off. We’ve redesigned them in ‘Transformers 4,’ and there’s some really cool s-t in it. I’m literally redesigning every character, top to bottom. There’s a reason why they’re redesigned, but it’s also to keep it new and fresh to me. I think the fans will appreciate some of this new stuff we have in the movie and some of the new characters.”
