J.J. Abrams believes John Williams will be scoring Star Wars Episode VII

It’s a sad thought to think that there would be a new Star Wars movie without John Williams back as composer. Well, we already lost the battle with him not returning to compose the Man of Steel movie. Then again, that movie is like a reboot of sorts. With J.J. Abrams directing Star Wars: Episode VII, one would think that he would hire his go-to composer, Michael Giacchino, to score the movie. Thankfully, J.J. Abrams actually wants John Williams to score. Even Michael Giacchino prefers that Williams do it. In a Star Trek Into Darkness press conference in Berlin, he talks about how great Giachhino is, and then talks about how he believes John Williams will be composing Star Wars Episode VII.

“Michael Giacchino is an incredible composer, who I was lucky enough to begin working with on Alias…He’s truly one of the most influential members of our crew, and I think this score, he really outdid himself. Again, for Star Wars, it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film, because he was there long before I was.”

Woohoo! That’s good to hear.
