The world of Harry Potter heads to Universal Studios Hollywood

It’s official. Universal Studios Hollywood has gotten the approval to create the world of Harry Potter called “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at its theme park. That means The Gibson Amphitheatre will kick the bucket to make room for Harry Potter and his friends. Another attraction to go bye-bye is The Curious George attraction.

Universal Studios Hollywood will put in $500 million towards the Harry Potter attraction, new and upgraded television production facilities, office space and infrastructure on the Universal Studios lot. 2,000 construction jobs will be created because of this.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be similar to the Universal Orlando Resort themed land that opened in 2010 and will feature Hogwarts castle as the centerpiece.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is one of the first projects for the theme park’s 25-year Evolution Plan. $1.6 billion will be invested in tourism and production, with 30,000 jobs being created and $2 billion being generated.
