For those who don’t know what The Prom is, it’s not the US version of a high school dance. The Proms is a concert hall in London also called “The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts presented by the BBC.” It is very similar to the Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl concerts and New York Philharmonic concerts.

These concerts begin on July 12th and run for two months. A Doctor Who concert celebration on July 13th and 14th at Royal Albert Hall will run for two nights. It will include scenes from the show with music written from the soundtrack. There will be special guests from the show as well.

Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor, had said of the event, “I love the Albert Hall. I love the Proms. I love classical music. I think it’s a great thing to see all of Murray [Gold]’s really brilliant score over the years come to life.”

Here is a taste of the 2010 BBC Proms.
