WWE on Xbox 360 and EPIX on PS3

WWE on XBOXWith at least one gaming console in almost every home in America, gamers are now getting even more reasons not to leave the house. This week two different announcements came out for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. On the Xbox 360 side starting this week, you will be able to purchase WWE pay-per-view events. With WrestleMania XXIX this weekend, the service could not have found a better time to land. This new service will require you to have an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription and is only available in the U.S.

On the PlayStation 3 side of things we have EPIX. This was announced a few months back and it’s finally arrived. You will need to jump on the PlayStation Store and download the free streaming app. Once there you’ll have access to 3,000-plus titles including nerd favorites like The Avengers and Skyfall. However, you will still need a subscription from your local cable or satellite provider. If you have PlayStation Plus, you’ll also get a free movie or special every week. Did I mention that a Vita version of the app will also be coming soon? Yup! So now you can be occupied everywhere you go.

While I think it’s great to have new services on my console, I still believe we should have a way to cut the cable and satellite companies out. Still, it’s just another way our gaming consoles are now becoming a huge media hub that is now rapidly taking over our living room.
