Heavy Gear is coming back with ‘Assault’

This old-school PC game is going to make a comeback with the help of the new Unreal Engine 4. To those that have not heard or played Heavy Gear here’s the lowdown: Set in a futuristic gladiatorial world, the game transforms mecha combat into a spectacular sporting event where players battle it out for fame and glory.

And to bring you a great game Stompy Bot Production and MekTek Studios are using crowdfunding to help get Heavy Gear Assault off the ground. They have currently raised $100,000+ on their website alone and the goal is to reach $900,000 for this to make it out to the public. There are plans on going to Kickstarter, as well, but there is no date on when that will be.

James Taylor, President of Stompy Bot Productions said:

With a rebirth of interest in mecha games, we feel the time is right for a new Heavy Gear game. We’re all gamers and fans of giant robots at Stompy Bot and are dedicated to bringing a revolutionary game to the community.  With our crowdfunding campaign, we are appealing directly to the community and are soliciting their participation in the birth of a new era.

I loved the TV show they had in the early 2000s and one of my early introductions to PC games was this game via my cousin. And now that the interest for mechs and robotics are going up, it is the right time to do this. I cannot wait to play this game when it comes out.
