Star Wars: The Clone Wars canceled, Star Wars: Detours’ fate is unknown

Bad news for Star Wars fan. Even though Disney had bought out Lucasfilm, there was little focus on everything else Star Wars, including Cartoon Network’s Clone Wars and other possible future projects.

“I look around now, and there is more ‘Star Wars’ happening here than at any time I’ve ever been with the company,” Filoni said. “It’s really kind of blossomed and taken a new shape with Kathleen Kennedy heading up Lucasfilm. I look around the halls and ‘Episode VII’ of ‘Star Wars’ is actually being made, every day … but because of these new, exciting changes and things happening, other things have to wind down and come to a close. And that’s what we’re going to be doing with Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”

There is however a saving grace. While the studio is no longer producing new episodes for Cartoon Network, we’re continuing production on new ‘Clone Wars’ story arcs that promise to be some of the most thrilling adventures ever seen.” No other comments were made so it’s up in the air how fans will get to see these new arcs and adventures…maybe a straight to DVD movie or DVD-only specials?

This is just the first piece of sad news, when it comes to Star Wars though.

The second is that Star Wars: Detours‘ fate is currently unknown. Created by Seth Green and Matt Senreich, after George Lucas enjoyed a few of the Star Wars sketches they created in Robot Chicken, Lucas gave them the go ahead to feature Star Wars characters and even create 3 Star Wars-themed episodes of Robot Chicken, as well as have them create Star Wars show featured around Star Wars jokes and characters. All of this happened right before Lucas sold the rights to Disney and now Disney has made it unclear if the project will even air, since they don’t see it fitting in with the upcoming movies.

Watch the trailer for Star Wars: Detours which is great for hardcore and even new fans of the Star Wars franchise.
