Star Trek Into Darkness: Peter Weller’s character revealed *spoilers ahead*

*Please note these contain spoilers*

Nearly 40 minutes of JJ AbramsStar Trek Into Darkness has been screened for the press, has reported some new information about the characters.

The new footage reveals Peter Weller‘s character as Admiral Marcus, who one could assume is related to Alice Eve‘s Carol Marcus. An “Alex Marcus” was mentioned in the comic book prequel “Countdown to Darkness” and could possibly be the same character. If so, Weller’s character was a former first officer on a different USS Enterprise under Captain Robert April.

As mentioned previously with the nine minute spoiler shown before The Hobbit, Kirk (Chris Pine) and McCoy (Karl Urban) violated the Prime Directive on Nibiru and revealed the Enterprise to the natives trying to save Spock (Zachary Quinto) in the volcano. The additional footage showed Admiral Pike (Bruce Greenwood) returning as Captain of the Enterprise with Kirk being demoted (for violating the Prime Directive) serving as first officer and Spoke being transferred to another ship.

There are scenes with Kirk with two “cat women,” Spock ordering the evacuation of the Enterprise as it is falling into Earth, the desperate father (Noel Clarke) using his Starfleet ring to activate a bomb in London, Benedict’s character “John Harrison” attacking a meeting of Starfleet captains and “John Harrison” and Spock engage in a fight.

No mention or further information on Benedict Cumberbatch‘s character or his motive.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens in theaters on May 17th, 2013 in IMAX, 3D and 2D.
