Doctor Who celebrates 50th anniversary with a convention

BBC Worldwide is really pulling all the strings for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary celebration. BBC has announced a Doctor Who 50th Anniversary convention at ExCeL in London from November 22nd – 24th, 2013, with tickets for over 15,000 devoted fans.

A website dedicated to the 50th Anniversary will be releasing more information on the convention including ticket sales, guests, events, and surprises for fans.

BBC Chief brands officer Amanda Hill said:

We cannot wait to welcome Doctor Who fans from around the world to London in November. It’s going to be a spectacular weekend… Generations of fans young and old have been captivated by The Doctor and we’ve seen the show go from strength to strength, enjoying something of a global march over the past few years, attracting new followers from Turkey to Brazil to South Korea… 2013 is an opportunity for fans around the world to come together and celebrate the glorious past, present and future of Doctor Who.

Doctor Who first premiered on BBC on November 23rd, 1963. That November weekend will also premiere the docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time and the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who.
