Carrie Fisher, who first donned the Princess Leia buns in 1977 in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, confirmed YES, she will be returning as Princess Leia for Disney’s Star Wars sequels.

In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Fisher was asked, “Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?” She answered with a firm: YES.

When asked where she thinks Leia is now, Fisher responded:

Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.

The script has not been written yet, so we do not know what is in Leia’s future.

When we hear more, we will let you know.

Star Wars Episode VII is set to be in theaters in 2015. No confirmed date yet.
