Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is now live

akaneiroThose of you that have ever wondered what it’d be like to play as Little Red Riding Hood in a feudal Japan setting are getting your wish today, as F2P title Akaneiro: Demon Hunter is officially live.

Akaneiro is the title that was fronted by American McGee, the same man that was also behind the macabre American McGee Alice game. His studio Spicy Horse, located in Shanghai, China, was also behind the sequel Alice: Madness Returns, and American McGee’s Grimm. Akaneiro: Demon Hunters features a story based off of Little Red Riding Hood with Japanese themes, and borrows from various folklore and mythology, placing it all in an ARPG setting.

The company had also been running their own Kickstarter campaign for the better part of the month, which would help fund additional features for the game, such as Linux support, crafting, and community features. The game has also been recently approved by Steam Greenlight, and will be seeing a release on that platform in February.

If you’re looking to play the game now, you can download it from the official website. Though if you want the Steam version, you’ll need to wait just a tad bit longer.
