‘Some Kind of Monster’ art gallery spotlight

This week Disney Television Animations in Glendale, California, held its fall art gallery. Disney hopes to do several galleries a year, as this is only its second one. The theme for this gallery is “Some Kind of Monster.” Submissions came from not only talented artists, but also executives and other creative staff members. All the works were original and was displayed in many unique art forms including paintings, sculptures and drawings.
The art pieces included a sculpture of Captain Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, a painting of the Cookie Monster having a smorgasbord of Girl Scout cookies, and a painting of Grunkle Stan from Disney’s Gravity Falls.

Alex Hirsch, the creator and Executive Producer of Gravity Falls, even did some live art as we talked about the success of his new show.

I did also speak to the creators/executive producers of Phineas and Ferb, Dan Povenmire & Swampy Marsh. They were amazed on how amazing the pieces came out, and wondered why they don’t tap into a lot of that raw talent.

I had a great time and I can’t wait to see what the next theme will be for the up coming gallery.
