Transformers 4 gets new robots so toy sales can increase, but no Optimus Prime?

Hasbro’s President and CEO Brian Goldner, unveiled the new (possibly temporary) logo for the upcoming Transformers 4 film by Michael Bay. Goldner also gave a bit of insight on potential plot details at the UBS Best of Americas 2012 Conference. At the conference, Goldner explained that even though Transformers: Dark of the Moon was great at the box office, toy sales were down because the characters were the same from the 2 movies prior.

Here is what Goldner presented in order to correct this problem:

This is why ‘Transformers 4’ will have a new cast of [robot] characters,¬†and it will be a story revolving around these new characters.

After hearing this, it more than confirms what Michael Bay was talking about earlier this year. That means so far, none of the human cast is returning and now none of the robot characters are returning. I understand leaving out most of the other robots, but you need to at least have Optimus Prime. When you think Transformers, he’s probably the first thing that will pop into your head.

So that leaves the question of what characters will the new set of films follow and are they known characters in the Transformer universe? Well I guess we’ll have to wait until June 27, 2014 when the film hits. What robots would you like to see in Transformers 4?
