Capcom releases JoJo’s HD screenshots, online info

Despite the somewhat unnecessary higher pricetag that JoJo’s HD is asking consumers to pay for (a $20 digital download), Capcom is trying to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth. A new batch of screenshots shows just how the game will look on your flat screen TV with the HD visuals turned on.

It seems they’re using the same tactic they went with for 3rd Strike Online Edition, redoing the sprites to remove the jaggies and all that fun stuff. However, it seems that JoJo’s HD may run into the same problem, as it looks good on a smaller resolution, but larger sizes cause the sprites to appear washed out and bland. Then again, it may look better in motion than in still images, and there is also an option to enable the original graphics for those who want the true experience.

Capcom also gave some information on the online component, being advertised as the same matchmaking system used by Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, allowing players to choose filters by region and skill. There will also be a King of the Hill mode, where up to eight players in a lobby work to keep the top spot and fight for as long as they can. Replay functionality is also noted, and players can even share their own replays online.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD ver. is set for release August 21 on PSN, and on XBLA the following day. In the meantime, check the screenshots below and let us know what you think of the visuals.
