SDCC: Oz The Great and Powerful trailer

Oz the great and powerful poster art

As the people at San Diego Comic-Con wait in line and gets shoved into Hall H, you’ll be able to watch the premiere trailer for Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful in the comfort of wherever you’re at.

Wow, Sam Raimi, wow. The visuals look great! I’m happy to see Sam get an amazing special effects team to work on the movie. In the Spider-Man trilogy, Sony’s in-house special effects team did good, but there were scenes that were cringe-worthy, like the terrible CG Peter Parker as he tries to capture Uncle Ben’s killer.

The way the trailer starts off is a big homage to the original Wizard of Oz movie, where Dorothy was living in a black-and-white world and gets transported to Oz via a tornado. The same thing happens to Oz (James Franco), only this time he’s inside his hot weather balloon. It is reminiscent of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in theory, but the visuals here looks to be more interesting and appealing.

Oz The Great and Powerful hits theaters on March 8, 2013.
