Prometheus will be rated R…Take that, stupid PG-13 rating!

20th Century Fox has confirmed that Ridley Scott’s Prometheus will be rated R. It was announced after there was an image that surfaced of an AMC pre-sale ticket prominently showing the R rating. This is the next big anticipated geek movie after The Avengers. And no, Battleship doesn’t count.

Many fans were afraid that the movie was going to be PG-13, since Ridley Scott mentioned that he was making two cuts of the movie, the other being the rated R version. It’s a good thing that the movie is rated R, since that means that the director’s vision won’t have to be compromised any further. Can you imagine a prequel/spinoff Alien movie being PG-13? Oh wait, there was Alien vs. Predator, and we all know how that turned out.

Prometheus will be out in theaters on June 8, 2012.
