Silent Hill: Revelation 3D film to hit theaters Halloween 2012

Open Road Films has just acquired the U.S. rights to distribute Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, the sequel to the first Silent Hill film starring Sean Bean. The movie is based on the Silent Hill 3 video game. With this news, CEO Tom Ortenberg announces that the movie will be in theaters on October 26, 2012, just in time for Halloween.

The first Silent Hill movie had some flaws when it came to pacing and Radha Mitchell screaming a lot, but visually, it was very accurate to the world of Silent Hill. Seeing fan-favorites like Pyramid Head made me wet my pants. Now I’m hoping the second movie will deliver and will stay close to the story of the third game. Oh, and the bunnies; I want to see the bunnies.

The movie is being directed by Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane, Deathwatch) and contains cast from the first movie including Sean Bean (HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Lord Of The Rings), Deborah Kara Unger (The Game, 88 minutes) and Radha Mitchell (Man On Fire, Pitch Black). Newcomers are Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins), Kit Harington (HBO’s Game Of Thrones), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Memento) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, NBC’s Heroes).

Synopsis – In SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D, Heather Mason (Clemens) and her father (Bean) have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. On the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her forever.
