Resident Evil 6 now releasing October 2nd, new trailer, story details

It appears that Capcom has seen fit to change the release date of their vastly important project, Resident Evil 6. The original date had it releasing on November 20th, but now that it’s October 2nd, it will presumably be beating Bioshock Infinite and Grand Theft Auto V to retail–a smart move, for sure.

According to Destructoid, the very awesome Mercenaries mode, which always has fans coming back for higher scores, will be included in RE6. Additionally, drop-in, drop-out co-op will be supported, because the three main protagonists, Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, and (newcomer) Jake Muller will each have a partner who can be controlled by the AI, or a second player.

From here on out, there are going to be spoilers, so I suggest you stop reading now if you want to stay in the dark regarding plot points and characters.

The trailer gives us quite a bit of details, making me wonder how much more is contained in the final game. It appears as though Chris Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy are going after the same female, though one wants to kill her, and the other wants to capture her as a witness, respectively.

The two protagonists are going to be squaring off against new monsters who are created using the newly developed C Virus.

Perhaps the biggest surprise entails the debut of Wesker Jr., who apparently is the “child” of the original Wesker (undoubtedly created in a laboratory, though). So, if you were ever worried about Wesker ever leaving the series, don’t. The new trailer is from Capcom’s Captivate 2012 event and can be seen below:
