Fast Six begins shooting in May

To say that The Rock is a busy man is a huge understatement. Just recently, he wrapped up production for his new film Snitch. He is also currently doing a press tour for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which is now in theaters. Next month he will begin his road to Wrestlemania to face John Cena.

Following his match, The Rock will begin shooting Pain and Gain with Michael Bay and in June, his new film G.I. Joe: Retaliation will appear in theaters nationwide. Then there is of course Fast Six, the sequel to last year’s adrenaline-rush thrill ride, Fast Five.

While waiting to appear on Late with Jimmy Fallon, The Rock held a special twitter event where fans would be able to ask The Great One various questions called #RockTalk. One luckly fan was able to ask The People’s Champ when fans can expect to see him run with Vin Diesel once again.

We are planning to start production on FAST 6 this May in Europe. Loved playing the beasting “Luke Hobbs”

So far, The Rock and Vin Diesel are scheduled to return as well as Fast Five director Justin Lin. Lin told Box Office in an interview, that he has already shot the 12 Minute Finale of Fast Six before film for Fast Five had even wrapped up.

I already have a 12-minute sequence done. I did it just as an exercise. I had it done before we were finished with Fast Five, actually. So I wanted to do that just to have it there and to be honest with you, I didn’t know if I was going to do a Fast Six. I didn’t know if people were going to embrace Fast Five and we were going to have an opportunity. But I felt like I really wanted to make sure that the last scene, which I had talked to Vin about countless times—I wanted to make sure that was done. So actually I boarded it, I pre-vised it, and I cut it. So it’s funny, when we were in Atlanta shooting it, I already had the end sequence to Fast Six done. And that was what I wanted to work towards.

If you watched the end credits scene of Fast Five, you know Michelle Rodriguez will return in the new installment. So far, Paul Waker, Jordan Brewster and Tyrese Gibbons, are all rumored to return. There has even been a rumor whirling around that Expendables star Jason Statham, may have a role in the new film.

Back in December of last year, Vin Diesel revealed that the film would be split up into two parts in order to tell the full story of each character.

With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space. We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages…The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!

No word yet if both films will be in theaters next year, but the first part of Fast Six is scheduled to scheduled to hit theaters May 34th, 2013.
