I bet you didn’t know there was going to be a new Call of Duty game coming out this year, did you? Yeah, many gamers know that Activision pumps out a new Call of Duty game every year, just like sports games. They might as well just title them like sports games too. Call of Duty 2K12? Well how about Call of Duty 2k13? Many complain about the quality, but it’s not stopping Activision because they’re getting richer. For every person that’s complaining about the franchise, many more are supporting the franchise with their money.

Net profit for Activision-Blizzard in 2011 has reached over $1 billion. They’ve doubled their profits with last year’s $418 million. Revenue also went up with $4.76 billion, compared to $4.45 billion from the previous year. You can thank the Call of Duty franchise for most of their success, since Modern Warfare 3 was the number one game of 2011 and Black Ops was number 5.

On Blizzard’s side, World of Warcraft remains the number one subscription-based MMORPG with over 10 million subscribers.

Blizzard is planning to have Diablo III launch in quarter 2 of 2012.
