WWE and UFC going 3D?

Just announced today, UFC 143 will be the organization’s first PPV to go 3D. For a whopping $64.99, viewers will be able to enjoy all the brutal action of the octagon right in their home in eye popping 3D. UFC’s 3D PPV package is $10 more than their HD package, which is also $10 more than their Standard PPV package.

Recently, Research firm NPD’s DisplaySearch reported that 6.6 million 3D LCD TVs shipped during the third quarter of 2011, which was 27 percent more than the shipments during the second quarter. According NPD, 1 in 5 Americans bought a 3D TV in 2011, and those numbers are projected to double this year.

Also, rumor has it that WWE is also looking to jump on the 3D bandwagon as well.  Sources claim that they will not be ready for the big show at Wrestlemania, but it will have the technology ready for Summerslam. It seems pretty cool, but kind of pricey though. Never the less, I’d love to see a Hell in the Cell match in 3D.

UFC 143 goes down today, February 4th. You can check your local cable listing and theaters for 3D program at the official UFC.com
